Türkiye konumu gereği, her zaman depremlerle boğumuş, çok kurban vermiş ve bu konuda bir arpa boyu yol almadığı halde, asla şapkasını önüne koyup, kendiyle hesaplaşmamış, zavallı insanların acılarıyla, etleriyle, kanıyla, canıyla yöğrulduğu bir ülkecikdir.

En son deprem 06.02.2023 günü, Türkiye saati ile 04:17‘de ve 13:24’de merkez üssü Pazarcık (Kahramanmaraş) ve Elbistan (Kahramanmaraş) olan Mw 7.7 ve Mw 7.6 büyüklüğünde iki deprem meydana geldi. İnanmadığım sayıları burada zihretmeyeceğim ama on binlerce insanımızın öldüğünü, yüzlerce insanın “kayıp” olduğunu herkes biliyor.

Benim için 6 Şubat, hep bu yurkarıdaki resim olarak kalacak; çaresizliğin resmi olarak kalacak. Yardımdan önce, tüm camilerden “sela” okunmasıda, yardım bekleyen insanlara, yönetimlin verdiği cevap olarak kalacak!

Üç yıl içinde ciddi bir çözüm getiremeyen, onun yerine “Potemkin Köyleri“ taktiği ile kendilerini ve liderlerini kandıran, deprem paralarının nerelere gittiğini şeffaf bir şekilde açıklamayan, çıkarılan yasalarla zeytinlikleri yok eden bu zihniyete söylecek bir sözüm de yok açıkçası. Eskiden, Cumhuriyet savcılarını göreve davet etmek, ilk akla gelen fikir olurdu. Sonra “utanmalısın” diye tepki verilirdi. Artık bunlar geçirsiz fikirler. Namuslu, akçeli işlerle işi olmayan rahmetli bir milletvekili, TBMM kürsüsünden yaptığı bir konuşmada, bu zihniyetin temsilcilerine şöyle demişti: “Siz her konuşmanızı ‘Allah bizi utandırmasın’ diye bitiriyorsunuz. Allah dualarınızı kabul etti; artık utanma duygunuzu elinizden aldı. Keşke başka bir şey dileseymişsiniz!”

Acı ama söylecek bir şey de yok artık. Demek ki, layığımızı buymuş. Koskoca bir ülke olarak, üç yılda yaraları saramadık ve ya iyileştiremedik ama üstünü örtük. Artık UTANMIYORUZ çünkü görünmez hale getirdik.

Bu toplumdan bu kadar alçak insanlar çıkabileceğini sanmazdım. Çümkü saftım. Ama Atattürk’ün yakın arkadaşlarının yazdıklarını daha önce okusaymışım ya da ders kitapları dışında birazcık tarih kitabı okusaymışım, bu kadar cahil (yani saf) kalmazmışım. Ölen insanların kimlik bilgileriyle dolandırıcılık yapan bir sürü leş kargası ve akbaba olduğunu gözümüzle görmek zorunda kalmazdım.

Diğer yandan, “Japonların yapabildiğini biz neden yapamıyoruz?” diye sormaktan da kendimi alamıyorum.

Earthquake!!!

Turkey, due to its geographical location, has always been plagued by earthquakes, suffering many casualties, and yet, despite making little progress in this area, it has never truly confronted its past, remaining a country steeped in the suffering, flesh, blood, and lives of its poor people.

The most recent earthquake occurred on February 6, 2023, at 04:17 and 13:24 Turkish time, with epicenters in Pazarcık (Kahramanmaraş) and Elbistan (Kahramanmaraş), measuring Mw 7.7 and Mw 7.6 respectively. I won’t mention the unbelievable numbers here, but everyone knows that tens of thousands of our people died and hundreds are “missing.”

For me, February 6th will always remain as this image in my mind; an image of helplessness. The reading of “sela” (a call to prayer) from all mosques before any aid arrived will remain as the government’s response to the people awaiting help!

Frankly, I have nothing to say to this mentality that, in three years, has failed to provide a serious solution, instead resorting to “Potemkin Villages” tactics to deceive themselves and their leaders, failing to transparently explain where the earthquake relief funds went, and destroying olive groves with the laws they enacted. In the past, calling on the public prosecutors to take action would have been the first idea. Then, the response would have been, “You should be ashamed.” These are now irrelevant ideas. A late, honest member of parliament, who had no dealings with corruption, once said to the representatives of this mentality in a speech from the podium of the Grand National Assembly: “You end every speech with ‘May God not shame us.’ God has accepted your prayers; He has now taken away your sense of shame. I wish you had wished for something else!”

It’s painful, but there’s nothing left to say. It seems this is what we deserve. As a whole country, we couldn’t heal or mend the wounds in three years, but we covered them up. We are no longer ASHAMED because we have made it invisible.

I never thought such vile people could emerge from this society. Because I was naive. But if I had read what Atatürk’s close friends wrote before, or if I had read a few history books outside of textbooks, I wouldn’t have remained so ignorant (i.e., naive). I wouldn’t have had to witness with my own eyes a multitude of vultures and carrion crows committing fraud using the identity information of deceased people.

On the other hand, I can’t help but ask myself, “Why can’t we do what the Japanese can?”
